The capacitance C of a capacitor is the capacitive part of an equivalent series circuit consisting of capacitance and equivalent series resistance.
The rated capacitance CR is the capacitance at 1KHZ ±20% and 20ºC for which the capacitor is designed.
Admitted capacitance deviation from the rated cacitance at 20ºC.
RATED VOLTAGE (VC).
The maximun direct voltage or the maximun r.m.s. voltage of an alternative wave or the maximun value of a pulse voltage which may be continuously applied to the terminals of a capacitor at the rated temperature.
CATEGORY VOLTAGE (VC)
The maximun direct voltage or the maximun r.m.s voltage of an alternate wave or the maximun value of a pulse voltage which may be continuously applied to the terminals of a capacitor at its upper category temperature.
The dielectric strength of a capacitor is tested with a specified voltage at a specified time.The test voltage is higher than the rated voltage.The occurrence of self-heating or clearing during the application of the test voltage is permited at metellized film capacitors.
The climatic category which the capacitor belongs to is expressed in letters (standar DIN 40040:example FME) or in numbers (standar IEC 68-1:55/100/56).
The first letter or number represents the lower category temperature; the second letter or number the upper category temperature and the third letter or number represents the number of days relevant to the damp heat test.

The ratio between the resistive and the reactive part of the impedance of the capacitor submitted to a sinusoidal voltage of specified frequency.

The insulation resistance is expressed in MW and is measured at the specified voltage after a minute charge. The time constant is expresssed in seconds with the following formula:
